How to clean Felt Pool Tables

If you want to keep your pool table looking like new, you need to clean it regularly. This will ensure that your pool table is in good condition and allow you to enjoy it. Brushing is the best way to do it.

The local billiards supply stores will sell brushes made specifically for cleaning felt pools tables. These brushes are gentle and won't leave any lint or dust on the felt. A regular household brush can be used instead if you don’t wish to spend too much. You should be careful not to use too many hard strokes as it can cause damage to the surface.

Steam cleaners are another option for cleaning your pool table's surface. Although steamers are helpful in removing stain from the felt they can also be used to set them. A natural stain remover can be used, such as equal parts of white vinegar and water. It is important to let the stain dry thoroughly before using it.

Pool table felt may not be as strong as regular felt so you need to be careful not damaging it. A typical recreational player should clean their tables no less than once a week. For more serious players, a cleaner schedule is advised.

Once you've removed the stains, the next step is to clean the pockets. It is a good idea that you vacuum the pockets, rails and felt before you get started. A damp cloth, a soft fabric, and a vacuum tool are all you need to clean them.

Also, use a soft, non-linty cloth to remove the stain. Avoid using paper towels. These can trap fibers that could be left on your felt.

You can also buy a spray-on solution, which will do a much better job of removing stains. These products are either available in your local department store, or online. These products can be replaced by the products in your billiards supply company.

After the cleaner has dried, use a clean, damp cloth to wipe the felt down. You should not rub the stain. You should use light strokes to prevent the felt from stretching.

The felt should be allowed to air dry on the pool table. Avoid drinking or smoking near the pool table. You also don't want to leave chalk marks.

Once the table has been cleaned, the cues may be stored on the cue rack. The cues shouldn't be kept in temperatures too high or near moisture sources that could lead to rot.

Lastly, you'll need to clean the balls. This is a common task, but be careful. Many household cleaners can cause damage to the felt by removing tough dirt. It is also possible to protect your felt with a specialized cleaner.
