Breaking the Crucible Record for Snooker

The term "maximum Break" is a common expression in snooker. It refers to the highest break in a single frame. A player could reach maximum break by potting all of the 15 reds as well as all of the 15 blacks for 120 point. Another way to break this limit is to put all six colours into a single frame and earn 27 points.

Stephen Hendry's number 147

A record-breaking number of 47 has brought attention to the seven-time World Snooker champion. He broke in the seventh frame against Stuart Bingham in Sheffield. The world number-one is now defending the title and is eligible for another major award. Hendry, however, isn't convinced that the additional incentive of a Crucible 147 break is worth it.

Ronnie O'Sullivan's 147

Ronnie O'Sullivan has made 15 competitive 147 breaks. His first came during 1997's World Championship at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre. His latest maximum was achieved at the 2018 English Open against Allan Taylor and Elliot Slessor. This is the World Championship's fastest male player record.

Jimmy White's 147

Jimmy White's 1992 break of 147 was one of the most iconic snooker breaks. The British professional had a fantastic career and was one of the most popular snooker players of all time. He won the UK Championship, Masters, and six World Championship finals. Despite his successes he didn't win The Crucible.

Jimmy White's 147 against Tony Drago

Jimmy White's 147 against Tony Draga is considered one of the best billiards shots ever. The former world number one hit it in three minutes, 31 seconds. It was the fastest century break in a ranking event. Drago is a skilled player, but he has his faults. His temperament can be erratic and he's had bad play against the rest.

Jimmy White's 147 against Jimmy White

A table tennis break of 147 is an incredible achievement. Jim White broke 147 in 1992, but few people know about it. White broke the reds during a match against Steve Davis. He looked on track for his career record of 147. However, on his 10th black, he faced a long pot. After kissing off the red, White decided to go for black. This earned him PS114,000. Drago was warmly greeted by him after the match.
