
Historically, snooker has been seen as a men's game, with female players generally being perceived as inferior. However, recent success by Asian female players has resulted in a new generation, and the future for women's Snooker looks bright.
In 2019, Australia saw the first ever women's ranking event. Nutcharut Wiongharuthai took the title. She is believed that she was the first woman to record a 147 break. She was born in 1998 and is now eligible to compete on next season's professional World Snooker Tour.
Another Asian lady snooker player is Chitra Krishnamurthy. She was the first Indian woman to win Australian Open Snooker Championship (2008). She also won the 2011 six-red snooker championship. In 2014, her first appearance in the Eden World Ladies Senior Championships took place. She reached the final of Eden World Ladies Senior Championships.

Reanne Evans is the number one female snooker player in the world. She has won ten international titles and is the current world champion. She has been invited wildcard to play on the men's touring in 2010/11. For her contributions to snooker, she was also awarded an MBE.
Reanne Evans was a West Midlands native. At age 14, she began playing pool and has gone on to be a professional snooker player. In addition to snooker, she has also won eight ball pool and billiards titles. She is currently the holder of the World Pool Championship title. She is also the European Masters champion and the most popular female player in the UK.
Evans was seven-and-a-half months pregnant when she won the ladies' world title in 2006. She was the first woman ever to reach the main stage of a ranking competition. She qualified for the televised stages of the Wuxi Classic in China, and beat Thailand's Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 5-4 in a qualifying match.
Evans has been the world number one for the last ten years. She has been awarded ten world titles, and an MBE for her contributions to snooker. She has been invited as a wildcard to participate in the professional tour 2010/11 season. She will compete in London's final stages in the world ranking event. She will be playing world number two Neil Robertson in the first round.

The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association states that there is no discrimination against women in snooker. Two women are currently ranked in top 30 of the world rankings for men. If the next generation can challenge the best players worldwide, women's snooker will be a bright future.
